Here we go- after tiring 30 hours ride through all Patagonia, seeing basically nothing but the coast of Atlantic Ocean and few small towns, we reached most southern destination of our trip- Ushuaia. Going there by land you have to cross Chilean-Argentinian border two times. Crossing is easy, but a little bit confusing, because nobody really cares much if you cross it with a stamp in your passport or not. You have to take care of that by yourself or be lucky as we were- bus drivers did all the paper work for us.

On the way there we stopped several times at Gendarmeria check posts, where they check your passports and sometimes luggage. One young guy had drugs in his pocket and the dog smelled it, so we had to wait for him for about an hour, until all the paper work was done (funny fact: the policeman asked the dog to smell our bags maybe 6-7 times... Maybe we looked suspicious, who knows ;>). We were surprised that he was released right away. Local people explained that it is not a big deal if you carry just a small amount of drugs for your own use.

Anyway, we arrived at Ushuaia late in the evening and went straight to our host Daniels work place- local TV station and surprisingly we got right into the live show- clapping our hands. We were even mentioned and were super happy about that, thinking of how many people of Ushuaia do even know, where is Lithuania!

Ushuaia is a beautiful and cosy small town with a national park right next to it. High peaks of Chilean Andes can be seen in a distance and you can even send postcards from the most southern post office in South America. We did not do that, but we got super nice stamps inside our passports. The guy working there has stickers of his own face and sticks it to the passport together with a stamp, which was quite funny thing for us.

This place is full of hiking opportunities and we did several of them. Justina went with couple of other girls to the beautiful Laguna Esmeralda, which is well known for its turquoises water and streams going down the mountains. All of the nature looked remarkable and worth the journey! Also, we wanted so much to reach Antarctica, but decided not to do that, as we got to know that it is very pricey: prices start at 4000USD per person. Thank you, but no thank you 😊

All in all, it has been a great adventure, to ride through Patagonian Desert, see nothing but Guanacos from time to time, beautiful nature and mountains of Ushuaia, new friends, good food, wine and beer!

P.S.
Some facts about the transportation and distances:
Buenos Aires- Bahia Blanca, by train 654km
Bahia Blanca- Puerto Madryn, by bus 669km
Puerto Madryn- Ushuaia, by bus 1790km
All together- 3113km
