After resting a few days in El Calafate, we decided to move to El Chalten. Hitch-hiking again 😉 We got a ride to El Chalten from James, who is a geologist and he could explain to us how glaciers were formed. So, here it is: snow falls for hundreds of years, does not melt and pressure the lower layers of snow, forming ice, which is shining in a nice blue colour. Pure water source.

While hiking in El Chalten we saw couple of other glaciers, but not as impressive as Perito Moreno. El Chalten is more known of its hiking opportunities and is sometimes called "Hikers Meka".

We did couple of short hikes and after discussing with other travellers decided to choose Fitz Roy mountain hike. It took us several hours to hike 10 km to a beautiful blue colour lake- Tres Lagos.

We got again lucky, because the weather changed really badly on our way back. The wind was so strong in the valey that we had sometimes to crawl down and wait until it calms down.

The hike took us all day, we left 9.30am and went down the mountain aroun 6.30pm...And all that hard work has to be paid off, right? So we decided to enjoy a few local coctails! 😊

Well, it was truly memorable stay in EL Chalten, astonishing nature, mountains, beautiful autumn colours... You could really spend there months of hiking and will never get bored! But now the sun goes down and it is time to think about another destination!

With all the love,
